NATHAN OGLE

Position Held:  Defensive Coordinator / Assistant Head Coach

Background

Coach Nathan Ogle begins his 4th year at Woodstock and 17th year coaching overall. Coach Ogle is from Gatlinburg, Tenn., and received his Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Social Studies from Emory and Henry College (Emory, VA) in 2006. While at Emory and Henry, he lettered four years and started for two years as an outside linebacker. Coach Ogle earned his Masters in Education from Liberty University (Lynchburg, VA) in 2012 and his Education Specialist from University of West Georgia (Carrolton, GA) in 2014.   

  

He first started coaching football during his student teaching semester at Abingdon High School (Abingdon, VA) in 2006, followed by one year at Pigeon Forge High (Pigeon Forge, TN). Coach Ogle coached with Coach Hoff at Eastside High (Covington, GA) from 2008-2018. He is married to the former Paige Fowler of Canton, GA who is the managing funeral director of Woodstock Funeral Home; they have two daughters (Audrey age 9 & Olivia age 6) and one son (Colton age 3).

Bryan Young

Position Held:  Defensive Line / Head Strength Coach 

BackgroundCoach Young enters his second season with the Wolverines as the Defensive Line Coach and continues to spearhead our Strength and Conditioning Program in the weight room. He has 17 years of coaching experience around the state of Georgia at North Paulding, Effingham County and Valdosta. He began his career working alongside Coach Hoff at Eastside High and looks forward to the future at Woodstock. His wife of 16 years, Laura, and 11-year-old daughter, Finley, are excited to cheer on the Wolverines.

Bernard Walker

Experience:  

Coach Walker enters his 4th year of coaching. This will also be his 4th year at Woodstock High School, where he also coaches Basketball and teaches Health & PE.

Coach Walker is from Macon, GA and played football at Rutland High School. Coach Walker also attended Valdosta State University where he received his B.S. and M.Ed. degrees in Health and Physical Education. Coach Walker and his wife, Sydney, recently welcomed their newborn daughter (Trinity) in May 2022.

 

Trey Camps

Position Held: Offensive Line / Run Game Coordinator / Recruiting Coordinator

Background: Coach Camps enters his 10th year of coaching and his 2nd year at Woodstock as the offensive line coach and run game coordinator. Coach Camps works in the Special Education department at Woodstock. Prior to arriving at Woodstock, Coach Camps spent four years as the offensive line coach at Eastside High School in Covington, GA. Prior to Eastside, Coach Camps served as a graduate assistant for the Valdosta State University football team where he coached the full backs and tight ends for the 2015 and 2016 seasons. Before coaching at Valdosta State, Coach Camps spent two years as the running backs coach at Valwood School in Valdosta, GA, and also served as the head coach of the middle school program during his second season. Coach Camps earned his Ed. S. in Coaching Pedagogy, as well as his B.S. and M.Ed. degrees in Health and Physical Education from Valdosta State University. A native of Macon, GA, Camps played football and baseball at Central High School, where he graduated in 2011. Coach Camps and his wife, Nicole, have two dogs: Kevin and Jack. 

Scott Stansel

Position Held: Assistant Offensive Line / Tight Ends & B-Backs

 

Coach Stansel has been coaching for over 20 years and has been an assistant coach at Woodstock 11 years as receivers coach, running backs coach, and JV offensive coordinator. Coach Stansel coached in the JR Wolverine program for 10 years before moving to the Woodstock Varsity Staff. Prior to coaching in the Woodstock program,

Coach Stansel was President of Cherokee Youth Football Association (CYFA) and coach there for 6 years.

 

Coach Stansel graduated from Etowah High School and completed his bachelor’s degree from Lee University in 2019.

 

Coach Stansel and his girlfriend Mardi Williams have five children, Brittany Stansel, Bryan Stansel, Braydon Stansel, Robbie Williams, and Charlie Williams. Coach Stansel also has two grandsons, Gavin and Gabriel.

 

Califf Carnes

Position Held: Quarterbacks / Passing Game Coordinator

Coach Califf Carnes enters his 7th year of coaching. This will be his 2nd year at Woodstock as the quarterbacks’ coach/passing game coordinator and teaching in the math department. Coach Carnes started his coaching career at Eastside high school in Covington, GA as an offensive assistant/quarterbacks’ coach and then coached the running backs for four years. 

Coach Carnes is from Covington, GA and played football, baseball, and ran track at Eastside high school. He was a two-time All-Region quarterback and helped his team to the Region Championship and State Semi-Finals in 2009. Coach Carnes graduated in 2011 and attended the University of Georgia, where he received a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Coach Carnes and his wife, Ashley, were married in June of 2020. Their son, Landon, was born in November of last year.

The 2022 Season will be Coach Smerker’s 23rd year of coaching, and the 9th year here at Woodstock. Coach Smerker teaches Special Education Math at WHS and received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Widener University and has a master’s degree in Teaching and Learning from Nova Southeastern University. His wife, Kathryn is a special education teacher here in CCSD at Ball Ground ES. He has two daughters, Sydney (13), and Samantha (11) who both attend Woodstock Middle School.

 

Brad Logan

Position Held: Defensive Assistant: Linebackers

Experience: 

Coach Brad Logan has been coaching in Cherokee county since 2006 starting with South Cherokee Rec Association (SCRA) and moving on to the Jr. Wolverine program in 2015.  He has been a Defensive Coordinator and has worked with all levels of the defense in both levels as well as held multiple board positions while at SCRA.  This will be his first year joining the High School staff.

 

Coach Logan graduated from Central of Tuscaloosa High School in 1985 and attended Oklahoma State University from 1985 to 1989.  He is also a local business owner and enjoys giving back to the community and working with kids. 

 

Coach Logan and his wife jenny live in Woodstock and have two daughters, Kaleigh is a Senior at KSU and a Woodstock grad and Jilly is a Senior at Woodstock.

Josh Weaver

Position : Special Teams Coordinator / Safeties  

Experience:

Coach Weaver is entering into his 13th year of coaching, 2nd at Woodstock High School. 

Prior to coming to Woodstock , Coach Weaver was at North Springs High School for seven years; five as the Special Teams Coordinator and two as Defensive Coordinator. During his time there, he helped lead the team to back to back playoff seasons. 

Prior to North Springs, Coach Weaver was the defensive backs and defensive line coach at Lithia Springs High School.

Prior to arriving at Lithia Springs, Coach Weaver spent a season coaching outside linebackers and special teams at the University of West Georgia. That season, Weaver coached the Gulf South Conference Freshman Defensive Player of the year while also coaching several All-GSC conference performers and two All-Americans on Special Teams. 

Before West Georgia, Coach Weaver was the freshman linebackers and offensive line coach at Marietta High School. 

Weaver is also the Head Track and Field Coach for Woodstock. 

Weaver is a native of Marietta, GA. He played football and ran track at Marietta High School and played his college football at the University of Memphis. He is married to Janelle Weaver and has a son named Elijah. 

Kenneth Kretschmar

PositionOffensive Assistant: Wide Receivers

Experience: Coach Kenneth Kretschmar joins the Woodstock football staff this year. He will be coaching receivers.

 

He holds a Master Degree in Health and Physical Education from Valdosta State University.

 

Coach Kretschmar brings 20 years of footballcoaching experience to the team. Coach Kretschmar began his teaching career in Conyers, Georgia where he was the head football coached at Davis Middle School.  Prior to becoming the head coach at Davis, he was the defensive coordinator for the team. He coached his teams to many league and county championships. He made the move to high school coaching 6 years ago when he became an assistant coach at Pickens High School in Jasper, Ga. During his time at PHS he coached line backers for two years and was the offensive line coach for another two years.

 

Coach Kretschmar enjoys coaching year-round and is the WHS Head Wrestling Coach and a track coach. When he is not coaching, he enjoys spending time with his wife Angie, hiking, and volunteering at Camp Sunshine.  

Harold Lollar

Position Held: Athletic Trainer

Background:  Raised in Snellville, Georgia.  Grew up playing soccer and football.

Experience:  Prior to joining Northside Hospital and Woodstock High School, worked for a physical therapy company for a variety of sports including football, lacrosse, rugby, Developmental Academy soccer, basketball, and baseball.

Schools Attended: Graduated from Shiloh High School in 2010. Received Bachelor's in Athletic Training from Georgia College and State University in 2015.

Kirby Bertram

Position Held:  Athletic Trainer

Background: Grew up in South Dakota. Played volleyball, basketball, and ran track and field. 

Experience: Before joining Northside Hospital and Woodstock High School, worked for the Hughston Clinic in Columbus, GA from 2015-2017 as the ATC for Jordan Vocational High School and covered multiple sporting events in the area. 

Schools Attended: Graduated in 2011 from Winner High School. Received a Bachelor of Arts in Athletic Training from Augustana College in 2015. Earned a Master of Science in Physical Education from University of North Georgia in 2017.
